A Coconut Grove staple since the early 20th century, Taurus Whiskey + Grill was revamped in 2009 and is now participating in the Brunch Game so, of course, I had to check it out.
My fellow Foodie Tribe members and I sampled on a couple of the brunch entrees; Breakfast Frita and Scrambled Eggs + House Potatoes, as well as a Mamey Burrata. We also shared a delightful fig coffee cake which was one of the several desserts offered.
Although we were only able to sample these plates, I can honestly tell you that the mamey burrata was exceptionally pleasing. The combination of fresh mamey with mozzarella and cream with a drizzle of EVOO olive oil was taste bud tantalizing and so refreshingly delicious. I can't wait to see what other items will be added to their brunch menu.
My tribe sister, Candice Rodriguez (@izafoodie) also sampled a Fried Chicken Biscuit smothered with cheese and a thick cut slice of bacon and one of the house made doughnuts which she said were delicious.
And now... the booze; unlimited Mimosas, Bloody Marys and Bacon Old Fashioneds. There isn't much science to a Mimosa. Champagne and fresh orange juice will always work. However, a Bloody Mary and proper Old Fashioned take a bit more work and Taurus nailed it. Their Bloody Mary had the perfect touch of spiciness without overwhelming you but definitely keeping you coming back for more and their Bacon Old Fashioned is made with in house bacon infused bourbon and packs a major punch.
Taurus Whiskey + Grill has a full service bar and a menu of burgers, hot sammies, seafood, steak and bar delights. They've also got a dog friendly patio and I love that!
