On June 21, 2017, about a dozen members of Foodie Tribe had the pleasure of visiting family owned and operated McDonald's located at 13708 SW 152nd St, Miami, FL 33177. Owners Anthony and Cindy Lopez welcomed us to try the new premium desserts and sandwiches.
The Lopezes explained that as consumers’ needs evolve, so does the McDonald’s menu. In the spirit of changing to better serve its customers, McDonald’s is happy to state that the vanilla soft serve featured in our popular vanilla once, McCafé Shakes, McFlurry desserts - and the Premium Dessert Sundaes, is made with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. In addition, the sweet strawberry topping on the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae has no high fructose corn syrup, and the whipped topping served on both sundaes are made with no artificial colors flavors or preservatives. Over the past two years, McDonald’s has also been raising the bar and making a series of changes to its menu, including the launch of All Day Breakfast and updated Chicken McNuggets, a new salad blend and real butter on the English Muffins, bagels and biscuits, among more.
McDonald’s new desserts include the Turtle Brownie Sundae with rich chocolate chip brownie bites and swirls of creamy soft serve, with layers of hot caramel topping and hot fudge topping, salted pecans and whipped topping. Also available is the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae with pieces of moist white cake covered in creamy soft serve, sweet strawberry topping, and rounded out with fluffy whipped topping.
“These are flavorful, creative feel-good deserts,” says Anthony Lopez, who owns and operates eleven restaurants with his family in South Florida. “McDonald’s continues to evolve our food and beverage offerings. Along with our new Signature Crafted Sandwiches, the new Sundaes will be summer favorites at McDonald’s.”

Desserts have been a favorite at McDonald’s for nearly 60 years. Last summer alone, McDonald’s customers enjoyed 68 million vanilla soft serve cones across the country. McDonald’s restaurants at participating locations in Florida are among the first in the country to offer this new line-up of desserts.
McDonald's new premium crafted sandwiches are pretty exciting, as well. New and bold flavors and ingredients such as pico guacamole made with Haas avocados, maple bacon dijon with a hint of honey, and sweet barbeque bacon with thick cut Applewood bacon. Each available with buttermilk crispy chicken, grilled chicken or hamburger with choice of sesame seed bun or artisan bun.
So swing by and give them a try. You won’t regret it.
